Project Description:
Objective
The primary objective of the S.E.R.V.E. Campaign Awareness Initiative is to promote essential driving safety habits among college students, aiming to reduce traffic accidents and enhance overall road safety. Here’s a summary of each component:

Stay Focused and Sober: Prioritize your full attention while driving. Avoid any distractions and never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Ensure Seatbelts: Make it a habit to wear your seatbelt at all times. It’s a simple action that can save lives.

Respect Speed Limits: Adhere to the posted speed limits to maintain safety for yourself and others on the road.

Value Safe Distances: Keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you to allow for adequate reaction time.

Eliminate Distractions: Stay focused on driving by avoiding the use of phones and other distractions that can take your attention away from the road.

The implementation was accomplished with a combination of social media post and live events where we connected with numerous students and staff and spread awareness to our project.

School/Community Engagement:
We reached our student body and community by posting various Instagram post as well as hosting three live events on campus. We hosted a Car Cutting Demonstration where the Fire Department demonstrated the process of extracting an individual from a vehicle that has been in a serious car crash. We also hosted two events where we welcomed students to take a break from studying and enjoy taco and other refreshments while discussing our campaign. We had interactive lessons where the students could earn prizes for answering Traffic Safety questions correctly.

Creativity:
We worked in a collaborative effort to figure out the best way to reach our target audience with our message. It was important for us to create an original campaign acronym that was easy to remember as well as do a good job explaining the information we needed to get across. Creating unique and original social media posts was also a priority. Our posts were eye catching and memorable while also conveying our campaign accurately. Our live events did a good job attracting people by enticing them with free giveaways of drinks, food and other prizes. The giveaways attracted attention and allowed us to spread awareness for our message to a larger audience. Also our car cutting demonstration displayed the seriousness of potential driving accidents as well as real life display of the tools the fire department would use in these situations.

Use of Resources:
We mostly used social media to spread awareness for our campaign. We also distributed flyers for our live events all throughout campus. We used several online sources to provide us with vital driving safety statistics that we used for our social media post as well as our in person events. Some of the sources we used were The National Safety Council www.nsc.org and The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration www.nhtsa.gov

Evaluation and Impact:
We measured our community engagement by the number of likes we received on our social media posts. We also measured our engagement by the hundreds of people we interacted with during our live events. We also collected hundreds of signatures for the share the road pledge as well the traffic safety survey.
